ADJD civil wills in Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department provides a civil-will registration service. Its published guidance states that non-UAE citizens may register a will regardless of religion. This makes nationality, eligibility and the correct application route important starting points for both Muslim and non-Muslim expatriates.

Preparing the document is one part of the service. Registration is a separate stage with ADJD, involving an application, review, payment of the applicable court fee and the appointment requirements. A draft or translation alone is not the final registered will.

What should your will address?

Discuss your beneficiaries and their shares, your executor and substitute executor, and what should happen if an intended beneficiary dies before you. Parents should also discuss arrangements for minor children. Clear estate wording can address the assets covered without relying on an informal list that becomes outdated whenever you buy or sell something.

If you already have a will elsewhere, disclose it at the outset. The wording should be reviewed together so the intended scope and any revocation provisions do not conflict.

How our Abu Dhabi service works

  1. Confirm your circumstances, instructions and registration route.
  2. Prepare the will and its English and Arabic wording.
  3. Review personal details, appointments and distributions with you.
  4. Assist with submission and the court fee stage.
  5. Book the court video-call appointment and coordinate the final registered copy.

Single will: AED 999. Mirror wills: AED 1,499 for two separate wills. Court registration fees are additional.

ADJD’s published guidance lists AED 950 for regular will registration and AED 2,500 for special registration. The applicable category must be confirmed for your application. For the regular AED 950 route, a single will is AED 1,949 in preparation and court fees; two regular registrations plus our mirror-will preparation fee total AED 3,399.

These calculations use the regular court fee and do not replace the written quotation for your selected service. View the full will cost breakdown.

Do I have to live in Abu Dhabi?

If you live in another emirate, we can discuss ADJD eligibility and the applicable process. The emirate where you live and the registry used for your will are different considerations.

How long does registration take?

Review and appointment availability are controlled by ADJD. We book the available court video appointment as part of the service, but do not promise a date before the authority confirms it.
